Francesco Giusti è un fotografo documentarista indipendente orientato all’investigazione di tematiche contemporanee quali le migrazioni, il lavoro, le tensioni sociali, i conflitti e le questioni legate all’identità.
Negli ultimi venti anni ha esplorato diversi approcci: dal saggio fotogiornalistico al ritratto a progetti fotografici piu’ personali e di lunga durata; cercando sempre una voce personale e fuori dal coro.
Ha lavorato principalmente in Africa, nella regione Mediterranea, nella zona dei Caraibi (Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica) e in Sud e Centro America.
La sua serie di ritratti “Sapologie”, sul mito dell’eleganza tra i dandies del Congo e membri della SAPE, ha ricevuto il World Press nel 2010.
“In Case of Loss”, una serie del 2011 sui lavoratori migranti in fuga dalla Libia, e’ stata ampiamente pubblicata ed esposta.
Recentemente ha ricevuto il Voies Off Arles – Prix de la Critique 2016 con la serie “The Rescue”, una raccolta di fotografie perse dai migranti e ritrovate sull’isola di Lesbos in Grecia.
I suoi lavori sono stati esposti in gallerie, istituzioni pubbliche e private e festival internazionali di fotografia quali Arles 1999, Perpignan 2000, Roma 2006, FotograficaBogotà 2010, HoustonFotofest 2011, 4thFotofestivalGermany 2011, FIFVValparaisoChile 2013, GetxoPhotoSpain 2015, VoiesOff Arles 2016, tra gli altri.
Ha pubblicato su Internazionale, l’Espresso, Time Lightbox, Courier International, OjodePez, GUP, Colors, Leica Magazine, Russkij Reporter, l’Europeo, Photonews, KwartalnikFotografia, tra gli altri.
Ha tenuto workshop in Italia, Egitto, Kenia, Colombia e Cile.

Francesco Giusti is a freelance documentary photographer oriented toward the investigation of contemporary topics such as migrations, labor, conflicts and social tensions as well as cultural and identity related issues.
Over the last twenty years he has explored different approaches: from photojournalistic essays to portrait stories to long term documentary based projects; always looking for a personal and unconventional voice.
He has worked primarily in Africa, in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean area, as well as Central and South America.
His portrait story “Sapologie”, about the mith of elegance among the congolese gentlemen of the SAPE has been awarded a World Press Photo in 2010.
“In Case of Loss”, a series on foreign migrant workers escaping war in Libya has been widely published and exhibited. His series “The Rescue”, about pictures lost or discarded by migrants on the greek island of Lesbos has been awarded with Voies Off Arles – Prix de la Critique 2016.
His works have been exhibited in galleries, public institutions and international photographic festivals such as Arles1999, Perpignan2000, Roma2006, FotograficaBogotà2010, HoustonFotofest2011, 4thFotofestivalGermany2011, FIFVValparaisoChile2013, GetxoPhotoSpain2015, Voies Off Arles 2016, among others.
